Used clothing collection

  • What they are and what you can bring
  • What happens to clothes

How it works

Do you need to throw away shoes, used clothing, belts and accessories in good condition? Use the yellow containers or request home collection

We collect your used clothes, shoes and accessories in good condition for reuse or recycling. This service is managed by Amsa and the Municipality of Milan in cooperation with the Vesti Solidale and Città e Salute cooperatives.

You can throw away your clothes using one of the 400 yellow bins in the area. For proper separate waste separation, follow these simple rules:

In good condition, clean, and bagged

Please only dispose of clean clothing and accessories in good condition in the yellow container. It is important that they are placed in sealed bags.

No tattered or unrecoverable garments

We cannot recover tattered or badly damaged garments. In this case, please dispose of them in the transparent neutral bag for the collection of residual waste (unsorted).

What happens to clothes

Garments are sorted for reuse or recycled into yarns and other useful materials

We work in partnership with Vesti Solidale and Città e Salute to control the whole chain of reuse or recycling of used clothing and accessories.

Garments that are in good condition are sold to external companies specialising in the sector that sort them for reuse or recycling to make yarn and other useful materials.

Garments in the best condition are offered for sale in SHARE shops.

With the proceeds, the Dona Valore cooperatives support social projects in the area: communities, shelters, services for people with psychological problems, minors, the elderly, struggling families, and refugees.
